Rachel with dogs in the field

Rachel Beard

Founder and field lead

01376 617 577

Rachel built Rachel’s Doggy Lodge from a simple love for dogs that started with Lassie and long walks with Skip in Blackmore End. What began as helping a friend grew into a warm trusted service for the community.

She has led the lodge through change with patience and grit. Today she runs the service with a focus on calm introductions, safety at the gate, and joyful time in the field.

Her favourite moments are recall breakthroughs and quiet sunsets when every dog looks content and settled.

Samuel supporting field sessions

Samuel Hawkins

Operations support

01376 617 577

Samuel grew up at the lodge with barking soundtracks and fast wagging tails. He learned care, routine, and how to keep a busy field running smoothly.

He sets up the double gate, checks water and kit, keeps paths clear, and helps families settle in. If you spot noise cancelling headphones he is still listening, probably.

Leanne with dachshunds at the field gate

Leanne Barker

Bookings and admin

01376 617 577

Leanne joined in 2024 after careers in retail, the NHS, and care. A message from Rachel led to the perfect role and her two very dramatic dachshunds now clock in daily.

She runs the diary and app messages, keeps things organised, and is always ready to help with first visits. One sausage dog is close to mastering the stapler.

Eve calming a labrador in the field

Eve

Field supervisor

01376 617 577

Eve moved from care work to a dog crèche where she earned Level 3 in canine communication and behaviour, plus canine first aid. She joined the lodge to be back where she feels happiest, with the dogs.

Labs have her heart. She supports nervous dogs with patient steps and never minds the less glamorous jobs because every dog has a big personality and that is the magic.

Hannah with Woody the cocker spaniel

Hannah

Field assistant

01376 617 577

Hannah joined in 2024 on the pickup van and now supports the field. Her chocolate working cocker spaniel Woody has been a lodge regular for years.

She brings bright energy to sessions and plans events through the year. Santa Paws is on her list already.

Christine welcoming families at the gate

Christine

Family support

01376 617 577

Christine began as a nurse at Broomfield Hospital and has always cared for others. She helped spark Rachel’s love for dogs and once brought home a Cavalier King Charles that won every heart.

At the lodge she welcomes families, keeps the space tidy, and lifts spirits with warmth and steady humour. Proud pro poo picker and proud mum.
